I was very excited about receiving this book to review.  The cover is bright and colorful. The pages are different every day.  The Author states the mission of this book is “to help you to live your happiest life”.  The book is filled with what the author calls “happiness prompters”.  These prompters are meant to inspire you to reflect and focus on your day.  Where is the most joy, appreciation and love is found in you life or day?  I like that you have a fill in date, this way you can start on any day you choose. The book is very happy and will inspire you to want to journal your thoughts.  The pages are beautifully designed and the prompts are thoughtful.

Here is an example of two of the “happiness prompters”.

“It’s time to let old habits go!”

Your Mantra

“I release the need for these old habits in my life!”

The authors of Younger Next Year and Thinner Next Year strikes again. In this book they combine Younger Next Year and Thinner Next Year to come up with what they call “road map to your best life”.

This is another health and fitness book. They tell you what exercises to do and how to do them. This book is to help you get through the first month of exercise and the author hope this book will be a reference book you will use the rest of your life. There is also a how to book on the right way to exercises.

The authors recommend we exercise six days a week for 45 minutes a day plus 10 minute warm-up.  After the first month two days would be substituted for strength training. The is a lay out of warm-up exercises and strength training by Bill Fabrocini, Physical Therapist and  Riggs Klika PHD. You can download six-page illustrated cheat sheet for the warm-ups and a guide for the 25 scared strength training exercises free at

The author suggested we treat exercise like it is a job. Pencil it into our calendar.  Stating that we would not call out on a job so fast, so, we should treat exercise the same way we treat our real jobs.

I enjoyed the book even though a lot of it I have heard before, sometime you need that motivation to get you started moving again.  Someone to tell you that by not exercising you are allowing decay to set in but if you just get moving you can change the way the story ends. Couples who Pray

The book starts out with an introduction on what qualifies them to write this book, then it moves into the celebrities who shared their intimate stories throughout the book. The first chapter went into the statistical data regarding couples who pray sometimes versus those who pray a lot.

Couples are encouraged to take the husband and wife survey in Appendix 1 located at the back of the book before starting the 40 day challenge. Then, the challenge asked couples to pray together for 5-minutes a day. A list of 10 tips is there to get you started and Appendix 2 gives you life-changing wisdom from the bible.
I found the book to be hard to read and I felt the book was just stories of other people who also did the challenge. To me the message was mixed somewhere in the middle of the book. The book talked about the Devil being the enemy of your marriage, forgiveness, prayer and money, steps to a happy marriage and outcomes of the couples who took the challenge. I chose to read the parts that I felt I needed to read. But I believe just like the authors, that prayer changes things and it can only be better if the husband and the wife can pray together.

The Rejection
Lew was the finance aka Mr. Perfect. Kimberley was the famous Atlanta news anchor, bride to be. “I just can’t do it,” said Mr. Perfect on the eve of the most important day of Kimberley’s life.
The Heartbreak
She grieves over Lew as if he had died. Her love for him was deep and all consuming. She couldn’t function. She loved him deeply, so deeply that she gave up a good job because of her breakup with him. She had to face public humiliation and her heart breaking to pieces. Instead of blaming Lew, she blamed God. She felt like God abandoned her.
The Hope
Kimberley wrote this book to give others who have faced rejection or have lost someone a way to hope again. Through her journey she learned to trust God.
The Healing
Kimberley has a chapter on the man’s perspective and insight on how they felt after being the person who did the rejecting. Kimberly shows you how to move forward and get on with living.
New Beginnings
She shows you how she was able to take her problem and make it her solution.

This book teaches faith and determination.


The Walk

I checked this book out from my local library. This book is an easy read. It chronologically follows one mans life changing and spiritual experience after losing everything. He lost his company, his wife, his home and his cars all at the same time. Yes, he thought of taking a handful of pills, but instead he decides that he want to do something different. He packs his boy scout essentials. He sets out on a journey to walk from Washington to the Keys. He meets people along the way that changes and saves his life and the way he thinks. Book 2 of the Walk Series will becoming out in April 2011 and I can’t wait to read it. This book was inspiring.
